The Big Window is a mini-opera, a lush and passionate portrayal of love, sex and heartbreak. On the eve of a wedding, marriage is in the air and love is on the rocks. The bride and groom are struggling to reach the altar while their best friends contemplate divorce, and everyone else -- from a jealous ex-lover to FedEx men on scooters to the groom's intrusively visionary mother -- watches, gossips and comments. In this 80-minute tragicomic jaunt, all lives unravel and some lucky ones converge. With a cast of ten and a three-piece jazz band of piano, bass and drums, The Big Window is astringent, elegant, bittersweet. This work has been performed as a concert piece and musical choral event. It has been presented as a full production with a live three-piece band. In addition, individual songs have been sung in concert with piano.
