Cocoon

A blog about the Cocoon project by artist Kate Browne

Cocoon Greenwood, Mississippi

In July 2010 I’ll build a Cocoon with CIS (Community in Schools), and the local community of Greenwood, Mississippi. We will be using some of the non-native invasive species (like water hyacinth, Chinese tallow, kudzu, privet), that have taken hold in the Delta. We’ll then grow vegetables on the structure. This idea came from artist Robin Whitfield who along with photographer Hart Henson is collaborating with me on the project.

  1. looks great. I’m very excited about this. I’m going to be out of town the last week in July and am hoping this will be more towards the beginning of the month? I think I’ve been told dates but didn’t hold them in my head
