Browne Barnes creates theater, conceptual art, interactive installations and community projects that engage the audience in unexpected ways. We traffic in iconic objects and universal stories, old-fashioned stagecraft and new technology, beauty and cruelty, surprise and silence. Our work strives to elicit spontaneous reactions, to break habits of response and to raise questions of perception. We consider timely and timeless issues against a fractured backdrop which mirrors our contemporary reality. We believe that art can reveal the world anew, and inspire individual and social change.
